Why we are different

While many conventional law firms rest upon the laurels of their lengthy history, Thompson, Bissett & Castonia, LLP, is proud of our 25-year inception. We are not the type of firm that hires staff to assist us; instead, we work collaboratively together. We do not stand in competition with each other. We support one another, respect each person we work with, and recognize and appreciate the different skills each of us brings to the firm. We have consciously created a work environment which enables us to balance our personal and professional lives. We believe that this type of company climate empowers each of us to function at our highest level. We carry the sense of commitment and responsibility we have towards one another to the clients we represent.

Commitment to Family & Children

Each partner devotes a significant portion of their practice to acting as a Guardian ad Litem on behalf of the Court. A Guardian ad Litem represents, “the best interests of the child ” in a legal matter. Children may require a Guardian ad Litem when their parents are divorcing and cannot agree on placement, when a child has special needs or is the victim of abuse, or when a child commits a criminal offense. In most instances, when asked to serve in this capacity, an attorney is paid at a significantly reduced rate from their normal hourly rate. We choose to serve in this role because we believe that the youngest and most innocent in our society deserve the highest level of representation available. We feel privileged to be entrusted by the Court with this important responsibility.  In our personal lives, we are involved with charitable organizations centered around making children’s lives better, including The Boys and Girls Club, Parent Connection, and the Christine Ann Center. Additionally, Attorney Bissett has served on a local area school board.
