Collaboration With Students

At the law firm of THOMPSON, BISSETT & CASTONIA, LLP,  one of our primary objectives is to give back to our local community.  We are especially committed to children, and the importance of education.  To this end, we entered into an internship program with the University of Wisconsin – Madison several years ago.  The internship program allows young college-aged women, with an interest in law, to intern in our law firm for credit. The interns we choose have been from the local area. Our internship program exposed them to coming to Court with us, sitting in on consultations and meetings, and performing legal research and assisting us in trial preparation, to allow them to gain an authentic feel for what it is like to practice law.

We are proud that almost every intern we have had has stayed with us over the course of many of their college years, and have chosen to work with us in some capacity after their internship has ended.  Every woman whom has interned with us has inspired us with their intelligence, diligence, passion for the law, and ability to learn as much as they can. One of our first interns graduated cum laude from high school, and upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison continued to work with us for several years.  She is now working for the Department of Corrections as a probation agent.

Our most recent intern, Emily Bauer, an Oshkosh native, first interned for us while attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she began to work full-time as a Legal Assistant, while studying for the law school entrance exam, and applying to law school.  We are thrilled to announce that Emily was granted acceptance to Michigan State Law School this fall. Due to her internship and work experience here, she was further granted a scholarship and academic credits towards her law degree. Congratulations to Emily, and to all the young inspiring women like her, who want to make the world a better place.
